a woman no god can design

Sitting with crossed legs
is the hairless perfection
of fleshy thighs, hanging
out of denim short shorts.

The posture of a woman
unintimidated by the eyes
that circle her like the
nose ring that circles
her nose.

A jewel adorned in jewels:
a ring in each index,
a stone in each eye,
and a sculpture in each pose.

A billion years since the birth
of the stones that adorn her,
billions of years of life
and across floods,
mass extinctions to
the cradle of civilization
and a plunge into the modern
and the postmodern,
is her.

No one god can design such perfection:
She’s a billion years in the making.
