I saw St. Augustine,
that sinful saint
who knew that evil
was merely the
corruption of good souls.

He said to me:

Good is not absent
It is merely concealed
in the dark veil of a prince
who grew convinced to rule over the darkness,
even though his name destined him to be
the Bringer of Light.

Evil is not present
It is merely a deception,
the Daemon in Descartes’ Meditations,
that convinced us of a world designed to eat us
even though our nature destined us to seek
the good in us

St. Augustine turned
to face the devil.
Lucifer smiled
and the Morningstar
began to shine.
